Typically gifted to families and especially at weddings, these maps thread the life paths of each spouse or family member and join them together exactly where they decide to get married or build their home. Since paths are stitched in the same color thread, they cannot be differentiated. This suggests that, when we choose to share our life with someone else, we weave our past together and any place either has been to becomes, by extension, part of the other's path too. The shape of that specific crisscrossing throughout the world is unique to us, as a couple or a family, and no one else's. It honors the unique bonds created by travels as well as the detours, knots, and tangles that bring people together, however messily yet beautifully.
