Ins & Outs, started 2013
Ins & Outs is a series of hand-stitched world maps, flipped around to reveal the knots and ties of the embroidery process, rather than the classic geographical borders we are familiar with. This gesture symbolizes the hidden and “ugly” side of geopolitics. It playfully draws new relationships between places that are, in any case, arbitrarily divided by a few players in history who have had the power to pull the strings. Numbered out of infinity, these variations also represent the infinite number of ways one can view, represent, and therefore interact with the world.
